I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd let you know in case you haven't seen, Preserve, the company that makes recyclable toothbrushes and razors recycles Brita filters. They also will take #5 plastic (yogurt tubs and other plastic containers you usually can't recycle) because they make their toothbrushes out of them. While you won't necessarily have much plastic to send in for recycling, this may be useful for readers who haven't completely given up plastic yet but want to pitch in to reduce creation of new plastic.
